What is Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded?
E10 (e 10 or e10) fuel is an ethanol-blend biofuel produced by mixing 10% ethanol with regular unleaded petrol in compliance with the limit set by the Australian Government National Fuels Standards.
Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded is blended at our terminals by mixing Caltex Unleaded 91 Octane with 10% sugar-based or grain-based ethanol.
Smaller percentages of ethanol can also be blended with regular unleaded petrol. For instance, E5 comprises a 5% ethanol blend and E2 contains 2%.
Cost of Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded?
The cost of E10 petrol is influenced by the cost of both its components – ethanol and oil. Significant fluctuations in one or both markets will impact the cost of E10 in the future.
You can currently buy Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded petrol at a discount to regular unleaded petrol.
Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded
Caltex has been selling ethanol blends for many years, but we began marketing Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded in 2006. You can now choose Caltex Bio E10 Unleaded from over 225 service stations across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland.
Caltex research in late 2007 shows that 50% of motorists in Sydney and Brisbane who haven't yet used an ethanol-blend petrol would consider it. As demand grows, we'll be expanding our E10 offering Australia wide.
Caltex E10 Unleaded and my car
It's very likely you can use Caltex Bio E10 unleaded fuel in your car safely without compromising the engine or manufacturer's warranty. You can make sure by checking our car compatibility guide, based on the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) list of cars suitable for ethanol-blend fuels.
A recent Australian Government report, detailing the results of an independent study by Orbital Australia Pty Ltd, supports the accuracy of the FCAI list.
The government's 10% limit on ethanol is safe for use in most Australian made cars and most new imported cars. And as the proportion of newer cars gradually grows in the Australian market, the number of cars that can run on ethanol blends will also increase.
